The Delhi government has expanded night shelter capacity near major hospitals like AIIMS, Safdarjung, and G.B. Pant to protect homeless individuals amid severe winter. Under the Winter Action Plan 2025-26, around 250 temporary pagoda shelters and 197 permanent shelters operate citywide, offering free bedding, meals, and sanitation. Special rescue drives have relocated about 75 people from open areas. AIIMS informed the Delhi High Court of plans to build a 3,000-bed rest house for patients' families, with calls for Bar Association fundraising to support the project.
