
Canada faces a potential surge in undocumented immigrants as millions of work permits are set to expire by the end of 2026. Immigration consultant Kanwar Seirah estimates that approximately two million individuals could lose legal status, with nearly half being of Indian origin. This situation arises as Canada implements new policies to cap immigration numbers across various categories, making it more difficult for temporary workers and students to transition to permanent residency. Tens of thousands of study permits will also expire, and asylum applications may face rejection.
