
Pune district has reported its first Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) related death of 2026, involving 51-year-old Mansoor Syed from Neera, who had underlying diabetes and high blood pressure. While showing GBS symptoms, complications from his conditions led to a heart attack during treatment. Health authorities have increased monitoring, initiated water testing, and launched health surveys in affected areas. Another suspected GBS patient from Neera has recovered following timely treatment. Officials urge residents to seek medical help for symptoms like numbness or weakness.
