Kendrick Perkins, former NBA champion and ESPN analyst, has been appointed general manager of Jackson State University's men's basketball program. Perkins, who bypassed college basketball to enter the 2003 NBA Draft, will maintain his ESPN role while working alongside new head coach Trey Johnson. His responsibilities include basketball operations and strengthening ties with the university's broadcast and journalism departments. Jackson State aims to improve after a 12-21 season and its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007.
