The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has acknowledged issues at the India Open 2026, including concerns about cleanliness, animal control, and air pollution affecting playing conditions. Several players, including world champions, reported health problems and wore masks during matches. The Badminton Association of India (BAI) attempted to address these concerns but was unsuccessful. BWF continues to support BAI and expects improvements ahead of the BWF World Championship in August.
