Sports Ministry Directs Unrecognized Federations to Stop Using 'India' in Names

The Sports Ministry has directed several unrecognized sports bodies, including the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI), to stop using 'India' or 'Indian' in their names or activities, as only government-recognized national federations may do so. The DCCI, which has BCCI backing but lacks official recognition, has requested NSF status, citing its organization of international events. Similarly, the ministry declined recognition to rival taekwondo bodies after a court-mandated review, stating neither met the criteria under the National Sports Development Code. The ministry emphasized adherence to recognition guidelines amid ongoing governance reforms.
