Indian distance runner Gulveer Singh finished third at the 2026 New York City Half Marathon with a time of 59 minutes 42 seconds, surpassing the previous national half-marathon record of 1:00:30 set by Avinash Sable in 2020. However, this performance will not be officially recognized as a national record due to the race course's point-to-point layout and elevation drop, which violate World Athletics regulations. Gulveer, who holds multiple national records and won gold at the 2025 Asian Championships, aims for podium finishes at the upcoming Commonwealth and Asian Games.
