Danish shuttler Mia Blichfeldt has criticized the playing and training conditions at the India Open held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, citing unhygienic surroundings, bird droppings, and cold temperatures affecting players' health and preparation. The Badminton Association of India (BAI) refuted these claims, clarifying that the main competition arena is clean and well-maintained, attributing concerns to the warm-up areas. Indian players Kidambi Srikanth and PV Sindhu defended the venue, emphasizing acceptable conditions and normal challenges in international tournaments. Blichfeldt called for the Badminton World Federation to review the setup ahead of the World Championships scheduled at the same venue later this year.
