Following the BCCI's directive for Kolkata Knight Riders to release Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL due to political tensions and reports of violence against minorities in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) plans to ask the ICC to shift their T20 World Cup matches from India to Sri Lanka, citing player safety concerns. The BCCI, however, has called such a shift a logistical nightmare and stated that the decision regarding Mustafizur was specific to the IPL, with no current decision made on World Cup participation. India's upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh is also reportedly on hold.
