RCB Proposes AI-Enabled Cameras at Chinnaswamy Stadium to Enhance Crowd Safety

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has proposed installing 300 to 350 AI-enabled cameras at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to enhance crowd management and fan safety ahead of IPL 2026. The franchise offered to bear the estimated Rs 4.5 crore cost, partnering with technology firm Staqu for advanced surveillance featuring real-time video analytics, facial recognition, and crowd monitoring. This initiative follows a tragic stampede in June 2025 that caused 11 deaths, leading to the stadium's suspension from hosting matches. The proposal aims to address safety concerns and support compliance with government recommendations, with final hosting approval pending.
