Former India captain and chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar expressed surprise and disappointment over Yashasvi Jaiswal's exclusion from the T20 World Cup squad, stating the young batter has been in tremendous form across all formats. Vengsarkar questioned what more Jaiswal needs to do to secure a place in the team, emphasizing that match-winners should not be left out. He contrasted this with the selection of Ishan Kishan as a replacement. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar, however, defended the selection, citing the need for the best combination and noting Jaiswal was also among those missing out.
