
Amelia Valverde, former Costa Rica women's national team coach, has been appointed head coach of the Indian senior women's football team, the All India Football Federation announced. Valverde, 39, joined the Indian camp in Antalya, Turkiye, preparing for the AFC Women's Asian Cup Australia 2026 in March. She brings extensive coaching experience, including leading Costa Rica in two FIFA Women's World Cups and winning titles with Mexican club CF Monterrey. Valverde's support staff includes goalkeeping coach Eli Avila and strength and conditioning coach Jose Sanchez.
