The Khelo India Winter Games held in Gulmarg faced challenges due to unprecedented warm weather causing accelerated snowmelt, leading organizers to adjust competition schedules and venues for athlete safety. Meanwhile, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced plans to establish a National Centre of Excellence for winter sports in Jammu and Kashmir and expand future Winter Games into a 15-day festival combining sports, culture, and tourism to develop the region as a global winter sports destination.
