Former Indian Olympian Archer Shyam Lal Meena Dies at 61
Shyam Lal Meena, a pioneering Indian archer and member of the country's first Olympic archery team, died at 61 after a prolonged illness involving liver complications. Born in Rajasthan's Banswara district, he helped India secure a bronze at the 1987 Asian Archery Championships, leading to the nation's debut in archery at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Meena received the Arjuna Award in 1989 for his contributions and played a key role in popularizing archery in India.
