The Afghanistan Cricket Board has appointed England-born Richard Pybus as the new head coach of the Afghanistan men's cricket team, succeeding Jonathan Trott after the team's exit from the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Pybus, who will take charge ahead of the March white-ball series against Sri Lanka in the UAE, brings extensive international coaching experience, including roles with West Indies, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. He notably oversaw West Indies' historic 2016 ICC World Cup treble and has a strong domestic coaching record in South Africa.
