
Richard Pybus has been appointed head coach of the Afghanistan men's cricket team, succeeding Jonathan Trott after the team's exit from the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Pybus, an England-born coach with extensive international experience, will lead the team ahead of their March white-ball series against Sri Lanka in the UAE. He previously coached West Indies, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, and is noted for overseeing West Indies' historic 2016 ICC World Cup treble and guiding Pakistan to the 1999 World Cup final.
