The National Sports Governance Act has partially come into effect, initiating the establishment of a National Sports Board (NSB) and a National Sports Tribunal (NST) to oversee sporting disputes and governance. Key provisions now in force relate to the framework of National Sports Bodies, including the National Olympic Committee and Federations. Following elections under the Act, these bodies must have executive committees of no more than 15 members, including at least two Sportspersons of Merit. The phased implementation aims for a smooth transition to the new statutory framework.
