Mirabai Chanu Sets Three National Records to Win 48kg Title at National Weightlifting Championships

Mirabai Chanu won the women's 48kg title at the 2026 National Weightlifting Championships, setting three new national records with lifts of 89kg in snatch, 116kg in clean and jerk, and a total of 205kg. This total matches her career best from the 2021 Asian Championships and improves on her 199kg at the 2025 World Championships. Chanu, who moved down from 49kg following weight class changes, expressed confidence in surpassing 90kg in snatch soon. She dominated the competition, finishing well ahead of her rivals.
