
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has appointed 39-year-old Costa Rican Amelia Valverde as head coach of the Indian senior women's football team. Valverde, who previously led Costa Rica's national team from 2015 to 2023 and coached Mexican club CF Monterrey to titles in 2024, has joined the Indian camp in Antalya ahead of the AFC Women's Asian Cup Australia 2026. She is supported by goalkeeping coach Eli Ávila and strength coach José Sánchez, joining existing staff including Crispin Chettri, Priya PV, and Mario Aguiar.
