India batter Shreyas Iyer is nearing a return to competitive cricket after completing rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence. Following successful skill sessions and strength improvements, Iyer is scheduled for two match-simulation matches on January 2 and 5, 2026. Clearance for the white-ball tour of New Zealand depends on his performance in these sessions. Iyer sustained a spleen injury during an ODI against Australia on October 25, 2025. He is also expected to potentially feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
