The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rated the pitch used for the fourth Ashes Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) as 'unsatisfactory'. Match referee Jeff Crowe cited the pitch being too favourable to bowlers, with 20 wickets falling on day one and 16 on day two, and no batter reaching a half-century. Consequently, the MCG received one demerit point. England won the match by four wickets, which concluded in just two days. Both England captain Ben Stokes and Cricket Australia expressed dissatisfaction with the playing surface.
