
Russian athletes will compete as neutrals without national symbols at the 2026 Winter Olympics, regardless of any peace deal with Ukraine, confirmed IOC President Kirsty Coventry. Russia and Belarus have been barred since February 2022 following the invasion of Ukraine. This neutral status policy, enforced at recent events, will continue. Coventry also indicated that multi-city Olympic hosting is likely to become the norm for future Games.
