
The inaugural Chandigarh International Marathon, organized by the UT Sports Department, saw over 3,500 participants across four categories: full marathon (42 km), half marathon (21 km), 10 km, and 5 km. Ethiopian runners Olbana Negasa Yadate and Meskerem Tesfaye Fikadu won the men's and women's full marathon events, respectively. Indian and international athletes also secured top positions in the half and shorter distance races. Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria flagged off the event and highlighted plans for future sports initiatives and drug-free campaigns in the region.
