Eighteen-year-old Gursewak Singh from Heran village secured two gold medals at the 9th Senior National Gatka Championship in Mohali. Singh won gold in both the team event and the individual single-stick category. A student from Jatindera Greenfield School, he previously won gold at the Khelo India Youth Games. Gursewak's family, including a labourer father and a school peon mother, has supported his ambitions despite financial challenges. Village NRIs contributed to establishing a training facility and arranging coaches, aiding his consistent success.
