On March 3, 2009, the Sri Lankan cricket team was attacked by 12 armed terrorists near Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium during a Test match. The assailants targeted the team bus, injuring several players and killing six policemen and a driver. Despite the attack, the bus evaded a rocket and a grenade failed to detonate. The incident ended international cricket in Pakistan for a decade and followed India's withdrawal from the tour after the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
