Karnataka Government Grants Conditional Approval for IPL 2026 at Chinnaswamy Stadium

The Karnataka government has granted conditional permission to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to host Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 and international matches at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This approval follows safety and security upgrades after a June 2025 stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's celebrations caused 11 deaths. KSCA has submitted a detailed compliance roadmap and remains committed to implementing all prescribed crowd management and safety measures. Final spectator capacity will be decided after completion of all safety works and inspections.
