ASMITA Athletics Events to Engage Women Nationwide on International Women's Day

The Union Sports Ministry's ASMITA programme will host women's athletics events across 250 locations nationwide on International Women's Day, March 8-9, including 36 venues in Northeast India. The initiative, part of the Khelo India scheme launched in 2021, aims to promote female participation in sports and identify emerging talent through races in various age categories. Alongside competitions, training workshops for women technical officials will support India's preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and 2036 Olympic bid, as announced by Minister of State Raksha Khadse.
