The Houston Astros have reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with Japanese pitcher Tatsuya Imai, potentially worth up to $63 million. Imai had a strong 2025 season with the Seibu Lions in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, recording a 1.92 ERA and 178 strikeouts. This contract, which guarantees $54 million, would be one of the most lucrative for a posted NPB pitcher in MLB history. The Astros will pay a release fee to the Seibu Lions, but will not forfeit draft picks.
