India's Koneru Humpy was controversially denied a tiebreak in the Women's World Rapid Championship 2025 despite finishing tied for first place with 8.5 points. A FIDE regulation, introduced in September 2025, stipulated that only the top two players would participate in tiebreaks, excluding Humpy who tied with two other players. This meant Humpy, who was undefeated throughout the event, had to settle for bronze, while Zhu Jiner and Aleksandra Goryachkina proceeded to a playoff to determine the champion.
