Shubman Gill Becomes Fastest Indian Test Captain to Reach 1,000 Runs
India captain Shubman Gill reached 1,000 Test runs as skipper in just 351 days, becoming the fastest Indian to do so and breaking Sachin Tendulkar's previous record of 405 days. Achieving this milestone in his 15th innings, Gill is the second-fastest Indian captain after Sunil Gavaskar. On Day 1 of the one-off Test against Afghanistan in New Chandigarh, Gill scored an unbeaten 103, marking his 11th Test century and sixth as captain. His prolific form has placed him among India's top captain-batsmen, with an average over 82, second only to Don Bradman globally among captains with 1,000+ runs.
