Ibrahim Zadran Named Afghanistan T20I Captain Ahead of Sri Lanka Series

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has replaced Rashid Khan with Ibrahim Zadran as the T20I captain following Afghanistan's group-stage exit from the 2026 T20 World Cup. Zadran, previously vice-captain, will lead the team in the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka. Several squad changes were made, including the omission of Fazal Haq Farooqi, Gulbadin Naib, and Mohammad Ishaq, while new players like Noor Rahman, Sharafuddin Ashraf, and Fareed Ahmad were included. The series is scheduled to begin in March in the UAE under new head coach Richard Pybus.
