Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve Begins Biannual Wildlife Monitoring Survey

A six-day post-monsoon wildlife monitoring exercise has commenced at Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) to estimate carnivore and herbivore populations. This biannual survey, part of the National Tiger Conservation Authority's Phase IV monitoring, involves 304 forest personnel in 76 teams. They will document indirect signs of animals and conduct line transect surveys for direct sightings. Data collected via the M-STrIPES mobile application will be analyzed by NTCA to determine population estimates for tigers, elephants, leopards, and other wildlife.
