Sun TV Network Sues Chennai Super Kings Over Use of Rajinikanth Film Music in Promotions

Sun TV Network has filed a copyright infringement suit against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Madras High Court for using audio tracks, background music, and dialogues from Rajinikanth films Jailer, Jailer 2, and Coolie in a promotional video for CSK's new IPL jersey without authorization. CSK acknowledged using the content for several years but agreed to stop unless licensed by Sun Pictures or Phonographic Performance Limited. Sun TV seeks a permanent injunction, damages of Rs 1 crore, and revenue disclosure. The court has adjourned the matter for further proceedings.
