Tamil Nadu's Jallikattu season commenced with the first event of the year in Thachankurichi village, Pudukottai district. Over 900 bulls and nearly 300 participants engaged in the traditional bull-taming sport, which is part of Pongal festivities. Ministers inaugurated the event, where participants competed to hold onto bulls for as long as possible. Prizes, including motorcycles and bicycles, were offered to successful tamers and bull owners.
