
India is set to host its first-ever UCI 2.2 multi-stage cycling race, the Pune Grand Tour 2026, from January 19 to 23. The event features a 7.5km prologue and four challenging stages across Pune and the Western Ghats, attracting 171 participants including India's largest contingent of 12 riders split between the national and development teams. Organizers highlight the race as a milestone for Indian cycling, offering riders a pathway to earn Olympic qualification points for the 2028 Games. Traffic restrictions will be in place in Pune during the race to facilitate the event.
