Magnus Carlsen secured his 20th world title by winning the rapid-blitz double in Doha. He defeated Uzbekistan's Nodirbek Abdusattorov in the final blitz game after a challenging qualification round. Carlsen also won the rapid championship earlier, marking his ninth blitz and sixth rapid world title. He previously relinquished his long-format crown in 2023 but is involved in a new FIDE-backed championship tour set to launch in 2027.
