On January 17, 2008, Anil Kumble became the first Indian bowler to reach 600 Test wickets during the third Test of the 2007-08 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Perth. He achieved this milestone by dismissing Andrew Symonds, with the wicket involving an edge caught by Rahul Dravid off Mahendra Singh Dhoni's gloves. Kumble's 600th wicket coincided with a significant overseas victory for India, where he also contributed as captain and bowler on a challenging pitch at the WACA Stadium.
