The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is trialing a 25-second time clock system at the Indonesia Masters Super 500 tournament, requiring players to be ready to receive a serve within 25 seconds after a rally ends. First tested at the Australia Open Super 500 in 2023, the system aims to speed up matches, ensure consistent umpiring, and clarify timing rules. Players can perform activities like towelling off or drinking without umpire permission but must be ready at their positions when the clock ends. The BWF plans further trials and feedback collection before deciding on full implementation.
