Former Australian cricketer Damien Martyn has returned home after recovering from a severe meningitis attack that required an eight-day induced coma at a Gold Coast hospital in late December 2025. Given a 50-50 chance of survival, Martyn surprised doctors by walking and talking within days of waking. He expressed gratitude to medical staff, family, and supporters, reflecting on the fragility of life and the value of time. Martyn, a 2003 World Cup winner, continues his recovery at home.
