An international research team led by Nagaland University and the University of Science and Technology Beijing has developed an eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor from discarded apple leaves. This biomass-based solution, using carbon quantum dots, demonstrated up to 96.2% protection against copper corrosion in acidic conditions, offering a sustainable alternative to toxic chemicals commonly used in industry. Published in the Journal of Alloys and Compounds, the study highlights potential industrial applications and environmental benefits of converting agricultural waste into valuable materials.
