Nvidia is developing an AI-optimized computing module called Vera Rubin Space One to power data centers in orbit, aiming to address the growing energy demands of artificial intelligence models. Partnering with startup Starcloud, which plans a November satellite launch, the project envisions space-based data centers leveraging solar energy. Starcloud expects its Starcloud-1 satellite to deliver significantly higher computing power than previous space operations, with ambitions that most new data centers will be built in outer space within a decade.
