A sophisticated malware campaign named GhostPoster has targeted users of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge through at least 17 malicious browser extensions downloaded over 840,000 times. These extensions, appearing as common tools like ad blockers and screenshot grabbers, concealed malware within their icon images using steganography to evade detection. The malware remained inactive for days before contacting remote servers. Users are advised to manually uninstall these extensions to protect their data and devices.
