The Indian government has allocated 30 GHz of radio spectrum for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication technology, aiming to enhance road safety by enabling vehicles to exchange real-time information such as speed, location, and braking. Announced by Minister Nitin Gadkari, the system will be integrated into new vehicles first, with retrofitting planned for older models. The technology, designed to improve driver awareness and reduce accidents, is expected to cost around Rs 5,000-7,000 per vehicle and may be rolled out within the current year as part of broader road safety initiatives.
