
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw outlined that Semicon 2.0, the second phase of India's Semiconductor Mission, will shift focus from manufacturing to building a design ecosystem to support deep tech startups. With 10 manufacturing plants established under Semicon 1.0, the new phase aims to develop semiconductor design, equipment manufacturing, and testing ecosystems. Talent development remains a priority, addressing a projected 20 lakh workforce gap, with plans to expand training across 500 universities nationwide.
