AI-Driven Cyber Frauds Rise in Punjab, Seniors Most Vulnerable: Expert

Cybersecurity expert Vipin Gupta highlighted a rise in AI-driven cyber frauds in Punjab, with senior citizens being the most vulnerable. Between 2021 and 2025, over 75,000 cases caused losses of Rs 740 crore, with 35,000 complaints reported in 2024 alone. Despite government efforts against scams, victims, including educated individuals and officials, often hesitate to report due to embarrassment. Gupta urged caution online and emphasized the need for greater digital awareness as criminals adapt their tactics.
