On January 16, X, formerly Twitter, experienced a widespread global outage affecting tens of thousands of users across the US, UK, India, Japan, and other regions. The disruption impacted both the website and mobile app, with many users encountering blank screens and error messages. The integrated AI chatbot Grok was also unresponsive. Downdetector recorded over 77,000 reports globally at peak. The issue appeared linked to X's servers rather than Cloudflare, though no official cause or statement has been provided. This marked the platform's second major outage within a week.
