Niantic Spatial is leveraging data collected from Pokémon Go players, who captured over 30 billion images while exploring real-world locations, to train its Visual Positioning System (VPS). This system enables delivery robots developed by Coco Robotics to navigate urban sidewalks with centimetre-level accuracy, addressing GPS limitations in dense environments. The collaboration aims to improve autonomous delivery precision by using crowdsourced visual data originally gathered through the augmented reality game.
