The Singapore government announced an investment of over S$1 billion (approximately US$778.8 million) in public artificial intelligence research through 2030 to enhance national capabilities and global competitiveness. The funding will focus on priority areas like responsible and resource-efficient AI, talent development from pre-university to faculty levels, and supporting AI adoption in industries. This builds on previous investments, including S$500 million in 2024 for high-performance computing infrastructure and over S$500 million through AI Singapore, which developed the Sea-Lion language model for Southeast Asian languages.
