Chinese scientists have identified eight water-formed caves in Mars' Hebrus Valles region, distinct from previously known volcanic caves. These potential karst caves, formed by chemical dissolution of soluble rocks like carbonates and sulfates, were discovered using data from NASA satellites. The findings, published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters, suggest these formations could be significant for future exploration and the search for extraterrestrial life.
