Since 2017, astronomers have detected three interstellar objects—1I 'Oumuamua, 2I Borisov, and 3I ATLAS—that entered our solar system at high speeds, making detailed study challenging. The latest, 3I ATLAS, was observed in July 2025 traveling near 60 km/s. Scientists emphasize the need for coordinated global detection and rapid response systems, including pre-positioned spacecraft, to better study these rare visitors before they exit the solar system.
